The History of the Penarth Dock and Ely Tidal Harbour in South Wales. Penarth was a small port in comparison to Cardiff, Newport and Barry but nevertheless highly efficient and profitable for the Penarth Harbour, Dock and Railway Company and it's parent, the Taff Vale Railway Company. Follow the story from the days when I. K. Brunel and his son were involved and Charles Darwin invested in the venture, through the last 150 years or so and judge for yourself if this dock and harbour deserve to be recognised as an important element in the industrial heritage of South Wales. The site is periodically archived by the National Library of Wales - Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru - for its 'Web Archive Wales' project. The Lloyd's Register Foundation, Heritage and Education Centre, kindly gave the following review : 'A brilliant project to capture the heritage of Penarth Dock and make the research free and accessible for all to use.'
